China's "Chalk God"

3D chalk art in China: A girl looks down a "stairwell" drawn on the concrete ground.

From Xinmin:

“Chalk God” 3D street art, netizens hail him as an “Architect”

Yesterday, many photographs of 3D chalk art spread on Sina Weibo [a Chinese microblog service like Twitter], with the talented person who created these artworks being nicknamed “Chalk God” by netizens. One netizen said: “Is he an architect like in ‘Inception‘?” There were even netizens shouting one after another: “This isn’t chalk, this isn’t chalk.” Through a search, Nanjing media discovered that the 3D chalk art first appeared on a post in the Henan section of Tianya [a popular Chinese internet BBS forum], with the poster called “tntu3d“. A phone call confirmed that he is the “Chalk God”, but we can call him Mr. Hou.

With regards to his own creative ideas, Mr. Hou said: “I think these 3D artworks actually aren’t that rare/surprising, but the idea is very key, and only with the idea can you move people. For example, I once went to a tourist sight/attraction, and there was a sculpture at this intersection. Below the sculpture, on all four sides, were a bunch of advertisements for counterfeit official documents. I felt this was so representative of China today, so I started drawing, never expecting to become so popular.” Mr. Hou expressed that the piece that he is most satisfied with was “drawing ‘happy birthday’ for my son’, and the vegetable planting piece was created last year when stealing vegetable games were really popular.

Here are the photos of the “Chalk God’s” artwork:

Fan-Made CG Video Might be World's Most Realistic

Silestone -- 'Above Everything Else' from Alex Roman on Vimeo.

Believe it or not, the fan-made video you're about to see is 100-percent computer generated, without the use of any real-life props. According to its creator, Alex Roman: "Whole production was 2 and a half months for the initial concept to the final editing." Continue reading for the video.

Some microscopically incorrect movement will betray the artifice of the image, or the light won't play off something in quite the right way.

Projection Mapping

(projecting film on to 3D surfaces)

This is a video of a building being used as a video projection screen. It's different than just projecting a regular film on to the irregular surfaces of the building (which would create distortions). The video is digitally edited to account for the irregular surfaces of the building. Remember.. there is NO light emitting from the building. EVERYTHING is being projected on to it like a movie...

China's Got Talent 2010 winner - Liu Wei

An armless Chinese man has wowed TV audiences in his homeland with a flawless piano performance - using only his toes.

Liu Wei appeared on China's Got Talent and stunned viewers with a faultless recital of the classic Mariage D'amour.

The 23-year-old lost both arms when he was 10 after he touched a high-voltage wire during a game of hide-and-seek.

He said it had been his "destiny" to perform on the show.

"For people like me, there were only two options," he added.

"One was to abandon all dreams, which would lead to a quick, hopeless death.

"The other was to struggle without arms to love an outstanding life."

When he was 18, Mr Liu decided he wanted to be a professional musician and taught himself how to play the piano in secret.

He persevered and developed his own style after his teacher quit, saying it was impossible for anyone to play with their toes.

Not Your Average Pencil Sharpener

It took 2 1/2 years to complete his best-known work, "Alphabet."

Dalton Ghetti has found a remarkable niche in the art world. There have been artists who use pencils as part of their craft, but none use the smallest and most fragile part: the pencil lead. Check out the pictures to see Dalton Ghetti's amazing work for yourself. Think twice before sharpening your pencil. (Pics)

Dalton Ghetti is an artist who works with one of the toughest mediums around. His craft involves sculpting pencil lead into impossible to imagine images. Everything from a giraffe to a hammer can be made out of lead.

Sungha Jung

“Hi, I’m Sungha Jung from South Korea. My dream is to become a professional acoustic fingerstyle guitarist.

I had been watching my dad play the guitar for awhile before I finally jumped on it myself two years ago. I just turned eleven in September, 2007.

Currently, I am taking weekly classical guitar lessons and teaching myself fingerstyle guitar.

I used to not have tabs for the music that I played in my videos. I just listen and pick them up directly from the sound source in videos available on the internet. However, recently, I have started playing with original tabs whenever they are available to me by courtesy of the authors.”

Geeks - Professional Regurgitator

From wikipedia:
A professional regurgitator is an entertainer whose act consists of swallowing and regurgitating various unusual objects. The objects may consist of anything from live animals (live mice: The Great Waldo, to light bulbs, billiard balls (Stevie Starr) and kerosene (Hadji Ali).

Some magicians perform regurgitation as part of their act (for instance, Harry Houdini), but professional regurgitators may perform regurgitation exclusively. There appears to be a debate as to whether some of the more extreme demonstrations are true or "tricks". Stevie Starr has apparently swallowed an unsolved Rubik's Cube, then regurgitated a solved cube.

Stevie Starr. Saw him on Britain's got Talent 2010. But they disallowed embedding. He has also appeared on Letterman, Leno etc. This clip has most of his tricks except the goldfish, rubiks cube and keyring one.
